Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring is a very versatile flooring cover that comes in many forms from tile to sheet and from wood effect to stone effect also non slip types that are suitable for areas such as bathrooms where slipping can be a problem. Modern vinyl flooring is virtually undistinguishable from the real thing such as wood and stone. With the added advantage of been soft under foot and warmer to walk on.

When laying a vinyl floor is it important that the sub floor is completely flat and free from bumps as this will show through the flooring. You can either have the floor screeded with a latex self levelling compound or line the floor with good quality plywood. Good preparation if the key to a fantastic looking and long lasting floor.

Adhesives are also important that you select the correct adhesive for the correct area. for areas such as bathrooms or where it is likely to get wet or suffer form excessive moisture you will need a 2 part epoxy adhesive as this is water proof and will ensure that your flooring does not begin to lift up. This product is called Mapei G19 and can be found in our shop under adhesives then under subcategory vinyl adhesives. If you are laying the vinyl in a normal area such as a hallway etc you will need an acrylic adhesive, this is called Mapei VS45 this is also in the shop under the adhesives and vinyl category. if you are laying the flooring in a conservatory or in and area that can be subject to excessive temperatures you would need a High temperature adhesive, this is called Mapei Ultrabond VS90 and can also be found the adhesives section under the vinyl subcategory.

Carpet Tiles

Carpet tiles are a great budget flooring cover, not only are they a cheaper way to cover your floor they are extremely easy to fit. Simply cut as you go along. They are also available in many different colours and types. You can mix and match and create your own patterns.

Fixing of carpet tiles. you can do this in 3 ways. You can use a tcakifier adhesive; this will allow you to remove individual tiles if you were to damage one. Or you can use a permanent bond adhesive or you can use a spray adhesive. For a releasable bond use for a permanent bond use Laybond L72 Multitack, Mapei ECO VS90 or Mapei VS45. All these adhesives can be found under the adhesives section of the shop.

Rubber Flooring

Rubber Flooring creates a good non slip surface for any room and comes in tile form so this makes it very easy to fit and versatile, it comes in a large range of colours and shades which you can mix and match to suit your needs. As with all rubber floor coverings you will need a good sub floor to achieve the best finish. So make sure as a starting point that your floor is level and ready for your chosen covering. If you get some adhesive on the surface of the tiles during instillation you can use Mapei Cleaner L to remove any spillages etc.
